Rising, a brand of anti-virus software of China's own intellectual property rights, has been lately exported to Japan. This is the first time that China-made anti-virus software enters international market on large scale, which indicates that China's software export has taken a turn from simply receiving entrusted processing to exporting finished product.

The intelligence and wisdom of Chinese people has long been known in the world, especially in the field of software development. However, for a long time China's software enterprises could only receive entrusted processing job by doing "physical work" for their foreign producers.

But in recent years the nation's software industry has seen a rapid development backed by state encouraging policy and government support for licensed software. In the meanwhile, the home- made anti-virus software has made a big way ahead in the field of general software with regard to its progress in both technology and market strategy. In competition with American and European software makers, Chinese companies have not only remained unbeaten but on the contrary seized almost 90 percent domestic market shares.

Rising's exports to Japan, through a fierce market competition, shows that China's unique technology and leading position in developing virus killers have been recognized internationally. As reported, Rising's technology of anti-unidentified virus has been registered as patent in Japan.

During the first half year China's software export worth reached 700 million US dollars, related official said, and the state is aiming at exporting 5 billion dollars by 2005. With Rising to take the lead, more and more domestic software companies will join in international competition with their own brand names.
