China, an Important Pole of the World: Zyuganov

The present scale and speed in China's economic development have rendered us reasonable to forecast that within a timeframe of some 20 years, it is fully possible for this ancient country in the orient to become one of the most prosperous and the richest countries in the world. This is the presentation by Zyuganov on "China, a pole".

Gennady Zyuganov, chairman of the Russian Communist Party, concurrently the speaker of the State Duma. At 09:00, Nov. 6, 2002 reporter stepped into the building of the State Duma as appointed.

The information assistant of Zyuganov told the reporter, "Nov.7, the most important festive day for the Russia Communists - 'the October Revolution'. He's been very busy these days. It is very difficult even for Russian reporters to meet him, but you are a reporter from China and the subject of interview is related to the worldly-known 16th Congress of the Communist Party of China and so he spared sometime to have an interview with you."

When the reporter met Zyuganov at an arm's length the first thing he felt was, he knows very well about China and about the Chinese Communist Party and he's very friendly too.

When the reporter asked, "the 16th Congress of the CPC is soon to convene, you, as a leader of the CP of Russia, is surely concerned about it��" Without finishing the question, Zyuganov chimed in by saying "I'm not only concerned about it but very much, I should say, about the 16th Congress of the CPC to be convened shortly. The congress will plan and work out a magnificent blueprint for China's development, the long-term strategy of construction in the new century. This is not only a great event in the political life in China but also a big event exerting a great influence in the world. In the last 20 year of the past century, the socialist construction with Chinese special features under the correct leadership of the Communist Party of China have achieved remarkable achievements, indicating fully the superiority of socialist system, making the world to take a great account of China."

He made an earnest study on the address delivered by Jiang Zemin at the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, Zyuganov told the reporter, especially the elucidation on the important thinking of the "Three Representatives". For this is a development of Marxism made by the Communist Party of China in the new era, a symbol to indicate that the Party has become maturer.

Zyuganov stressed that China, as the most populous country in the world, a permanent member country in the Security Council of the United Nations, is an important pole in the multiple polarization of the world. Along with the ceaseless increase of China's economic strength the influence in the international community is also on the increase. China is going to play a bigger and bigger role in maintaining the interests of the developing countries and in keeping the safety and stability of the world. China and Russia will have more words in common in the world affairs.

Zyuganov is of opinion that the time, the period of the Russian Socialist Revolution, selected by the Communist Party of China for holding its Party's Congress should have a deeper significance rather than a coincidence.

Zyuganov told the reporter, he sent a congratulatory message to the whole representatives of the 16th Party Congress the previous day and he at once told the staff to give the manuscript to the reporter, who went over it very quickly. The main content of it is, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China the policy of reform and opening-up practiced by China has scored great achievements and is now full of confidence to march into the 21st century.

The Russian Communist Party feels satisfactory for the continuous development of its contacts with the CPC, holding it that the friendly connections between the two Parties have played a very important role in developing the friendship between the people of Russia and the Chinese people and for the good neighborliness of the two countries.

Zyuganov said, he's been twice to China and wants to go to China again if chance available. It is hoped that the "Global Times" will help carry this good wishes of his to the 16th Party Congress, wishing it to come to a consummate end, and China's socialist construction will continue to flourish as ever and the Chinese people to enjoy a better life.

At the time when the reporter is saying good-bye to him Zyuganov suddenly called him to a halt, taking a book down from the bookstand he signed on it and presented it to the reporter. It is a new book written by him and fresh from the publishing house, which is entitled "Globalization and Destiny of Mankind". Turning it to Chapter V, the subtitle is "China, a pole".

After bidding farewell to Zyuganov, the reporter tries to read the book in the long corridor of the Russian State Duma Building while walking along, intending to go over the contents.
