Shenzhen to Input RMB30Bn on Sea and Air Projects

Reports from Shenzhen say the city plans to input RMB30bn on projects for greater sea/air handling capacity in a bid to boost local economy.

Reports from Shenzhen say the city plans to input RMB30bn on projects for greater sea/air handling capacity in a bid to boost local economy.

Shenzhen seaport, with a planned investment of 15.65bn yuan and an equivalent of that over the past 20 years, will be laid out like a tripod, with Yantian port in the east, Shekou Chiwan harbor and Mawan port in the west and Dachanwan wharf in the south. When completed, the harbor will have 10 containers berths and an added 36.2m tons (including 3.3m standard tons) of cargo-handling capacity.

Airport reconstruction funds will be up to over 15bn yuan on projects upgrading cargo transportation and construction of new runways and other related facilities under a new ground traffic system. With these, an up-to-date cooperative system facilitating seaport and airport transport will be built.

The project will also give energetic support to the development of aviation companies, speed up the construction of projects such as international cargo station and international freight transport village in the commodity transportation zone and introduce foreign capital to upgrade the managerial and service level of the airport.

In addition, vigorous efforts will be made to help foreign and domestic aviation companies establish bases in Shenzhen and open up air routes, as well as attract famous aviation agencies and cargo-service enterprises to settle in the zone.
