The ongoing 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has drawn wide attention from parties in other countries as well as from the overseas media.

A Xinhua report said that a number of parties and their leaders across the globe have recently sent congratulatory messages to the CPC for its 16th National Congress.
These parties include the Liberal Party of Australia, the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front, the Baath Arab Socialist Party of Syria, the Mauritanian Democratic and Social Republic Party, the Lesotho Congress for Democracy, the Union of Moderate Parties of Vanuatu, the Social Democratic Party of Romania, the Motherland Party of Kazakhstan, the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Citizens' Party of Kazakhstan, the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, the Communist Party of Brazil, Italy's Democratic Party of the Left, the Communist Party of Greece, the Movement for Democratic Slovakia, the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus, and the Pakistan People's Party.
Meanwhile, another Xinhua report said that some foreign media have run stories and commentaries about the ongoing congress in Beijing, saying it will push forward China's development.
The Chosun Ilbo of the Republic of Korea said that President Jiang Zemin's report has laid out a grand blueprint for China's future development and that China will speed up its pace of reform and opening-up.
Japanese newspapers including the Yomiuri Shimbun and Tokyo Shimbun hailed the significant achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC, saying that China will become even more prosperous, Xinhua reported.
