Sales of Legend HCs Rank World Third: IDC
The latest data released Thursday by International Data Corp. (IDC) show that Legend Group Ltd. (Legend) took world's third in sales of home computers (HCs) in the second quarter of this year, with a market share of 3.8 percent.
The latest data released Thursday by International Data Corp. (IDC), an authoritative surveying agency, show that Legend Group Ltd. (Legend) took world's third in sales of home computers (HCs) in the second quarter of this year, with a market share of 3.8 percent, which marks the first time domestic IT manufactures have stood at world's third place in terms of HCs sales.
Since turning out its first HC brand----"Legend 1+1" in 1992, the group has taken three qualitative leaps, rising from No. one in domestic market to No. one in the Asia-Pacific region and straight to world third. Yet the latest news means a happy surprise to the group, for its major energies are devoted to "dual mode" HCs which have been put on the market recently. And since last year Legend has entered "a period of qualitative change". Senior Vice-President Liu Jun says that Legend resolves to create original Chinese consumer brands, and "we hope sincerely to see Chinese brands appear proudly in the international market, and Legend will exert itself toward this end. IDC's latest statistics mean an approval of our years' efforts."
Six years ago, when IDC first announced that Legend had occupied the first place in the domestic market, competitors shouted "that's impossible". Today, when Legend emerges as world third in regard to sales of tabletop HCs, however, nobody raises doubts again. Questions are left to Legend's decision-makers, as how to cope with crisis in future? Having had the sweet taste of being the world third, Legend, which has been longing to become "a century-old shop", will probably feel the greater pressure placed on it.
In addition, Legend's desktop computers rank world fifth with a 2.9-percent market share and its commercial computers holding a sixth place with 2.4 percent. So far, China has become the world's second largest PCs market and one of the briskest markets of the IT industry.
