At least 30 people displaced due to the internal armed conflict in Colombia on Tuesday peacefully entered the Costa Rica Embassy in Bogota, demanding a solution to their housing, social security and health conditions.

The displaced people occupied the diplomatic facilities to press their demand with Costa Rican ambassador Melvin Saenz, asking him to mediate with the Colombian government for a solutionto their problems.

The displaced argued they were taken out of their places of origin by armed groups acting on behalf of the country and that they seek necessary social assistance from the government of President Alvaro Uribe.

Colombia has been embroiled in the longest civil war in Latin America. Over the last four decades, about 200,000 people have been killed in the conflict between leftist guerrillas and rightist paramilitaries and government troops.
