The Zhuhai Xiangyi Aviation Technology Company Limited Company, China's first joint venture aviation training center, was set up Tuesday.
The two investors, China Southern Airline (CSA) and Canada's CAE International Holdings Ltd., invested 51 percent and 49 percent respectively of the total 29.8 million US dollars.
CSA President Yan Zhiqing said air safety has become a focus of the global aviation market and the purpose of the training center is to enhance China's ability in training pilots and meeting international standards.
The new center would provide services to both domestic and international airlines and would probably occupy 30 percent of the southeast Asian training market, said Jiang Ping, chief executive officer of the training center.
China has become the fastest growing market in aviation industry and cooperation between CEA and CSA was mutually beneficial, said Gary Scott, vice-president of CAE.
