The base has been planned over an area of 2.1 million sq. m, going to be built on a scale of the largest and of the most advanced in China. The project had its first-phase construction started in 1999, with a total investment of 3.2 billion yuan and an annual 1.05-million-ton carrying capacity. When the second phase that was set about in advance is completed, the yard's total annual manufacturing is expected to reach 1.8 million tons.
The shipyard has two super large docks of over 300 thousand tons respectively. And the longest dock, with 480 meters' long and 106 meters' wide, is rated as "China's first dock" in terms of the scale and technical indexes.
As learned, the shipyard is now capable of building 300-thousand-ton oil tankers, 230-thousand-ton cape-size bulk carriers as well as gigantic and high value-added ships such as floating, production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO).
