China Sure of Topping FESPIC Games Final Gold Medal Tally

With 34 more gold medals from the actions on the fifth day on Wednesday, China has ensured itself of the eventual top position of the final gold medal table at the 8th Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC Games).

With 34 more gold medals from the actions on the fifth day on Wednesday, China has ensured itself of the eventual top position of the final gold medal table at the 8th Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC Games).

China is now leading the 40 participating countries and regions in terms of gold medals and medals total so far from the week-long Games. At the end of Wednesday's competitions, China has registered an unbeatable lead of 169 in gold medal collection, and78 silver and 42 bronze for a medals total of 288.

With winners of 351 gold medals determined so far, there are only 91 medals of this color left for the two remaining days before the Games close on Friday.

Hosts South Korea remains at the second spot in the medal standings, with 50 gold, 59 silver and 51 bronze to total at 160 medals.

Following China and South Korea on the medal table are Thailand with a medal credit of 32-37-29, Japan (22-18-18), Hong Kong, China(22-13-13), Chinese Taipei (13-21-17) and New Caledonia (7-0-2).

Chinese athletes set two more world records on Wednesday. Zuo Jue, 28, set a new world record of 126.5 kilograms in the women's up to 67.5kg open class powerlifting final. It shattered the previous world mark of 126.0kg, set by Egyptian Heba Ahmed at this year's world championships in August in Malaysia.

Chinese shooters Huang Wei, Zhao Shanyuan and Ye Qing established a world record of 1,592 points in the newly-set event of SH1 class men's 50 meters free pistol.

And competitions came to an end in the sports of Boccia, cycling, shooting and table tennis.

Thursday, the penultimate day of the week-long Games will attract athletes to vie for 82 gold medals in 11 sports on offer.
