Trade Union Leader Meets Luxembourg Guests

Trade unions of all countries should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to meet new challenges brought about by economic globalization, a top Chinese trade union leader said in Beijing Monday.

Trade unions of all countries should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to meet new challenges brought about by economic globalization, a top Chinese trade union leader said here Monday.

Wei Jianxing, chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), made the remarks at a meeting with a delegation from the Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation, led by its president John Castegnaro.

Wei said such cooperation would benefit the healthy development of the international labor movement which underscores peace, development and the interests of workers.

Wei said friendship and cooperation between the trade unions ofChina and Luxembourg have been growing smoothly in recent years, along with the growth of bilateral ties of the two countries.

His comments were echoed by Castegnaro, who said the international status of the Chinese trade unions should be furtherenhanced since China has achieved remarkable progress in development.

The delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the ACFTU.
