Mine Balst Death Toll in North China Rises to 36

The bodies of another fifteen coal miners were recovered by rescue workers from the Zhujiadian Coal Mine early Saturday following a gnetas explosion on Oct. 23, bringing the death toll to 36.

The bodies of another fifteen coal miners were recovered by rescue workers from the Zhujiadian Coal Mine early Saturday following a gnetas explosion on Oct. 23, bringing the death toll to 36.

Rescue workers are working around the clock to try to open the section of the mineshaft where the eight remaining miners were trapped, said Guo Hailiang, commissioner of the prefecture and head of the rescue team.

Efforts to restore the ventilation and rebuild the collapsed sections of the mine are also progressing smoothly, according to Guo.
