Chinese Special Envoy to Visit Middle East

China's special envoy on the Middle East issue, Ambassador Wang Shijie, is due to visit the Middle East early next month, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

China's special envoy on the Middle East issue, Ambassador Wang Shijie, is due to visit the Middle East early next month, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

In order to ease the present tension in the region and push for the Palestine-Israel conflict to be resolved at an earlier date, China will strive to increase engagement and contacts with all relevant parties in the Middle East, Liu said.

Currently, he added, China is having consultations with the relevant countries on detailed arrangements for the envoy's visit.
