About 20 foreigners, among them British, Austrian, Australian and Dutch citizens, are among the hostages trapped in a Moscow theater, official sources said.

About 20 foreigners, among them British, Austrian, Australian and Dutch citizens, are among the hostages trapped in a Moscow theater, official sources said.

Representatives of the Austrian, Australian and Dutch embassies have already arrived at the scene, a spokesman for the headquarters to liberate the hostages, has told Interfax.

"Attempts are being made to free the foreigners," he said.

Among the hostages, there are many citizens from countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. "But the terrorists are refusing to negotiate their release," the source said.
