Three People Shot in S. California Beach City

Three people were shot on Wednesday in downtown Laguna Beach, northwest of the Orange County in the US western state of California, local media reported.

Three people were shot on Wednesday in downtown Laguna Beach, northwest of the Orange County in the US western state of California, local media reported.

It happened near The Herb, a shop near Pacific Coast Highway and Anita Street in the beach city, the reports said.

The identities of the victims and their conditions were unknown.But initial reports indicated a robbery suspect, a police officer and a witness may have been hit.

Traffic were diverted away from the area while investigators searched for clues.

The shooting occurred at a time when a sniper was on the loose in the Washington D.C. area. The serial sniper has killed 10 people in 13 attacks, causing widespread panic among local residents.
