China Opposes US Weapon Sales to Taiwan

China is in opposition to the sale of weapons of any kind to Taiwan by any country, including the United States, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said Tuesday at a regular press conference.

China is in opposition to the sale of weapons of any kind to Taiwan by any country, including the United States, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said Tuesday at a regular press conference.

Liu said China hopes and requires the United States to abide by the three Sino-US joint communiques, particularly the one signed on Aug. 17, 1982 in dealing with the related issues, so as to guarantee the smooth, healthy growth of Sino-US relations and properly solve the Taiwan issue, which remains the most sensitive and important one between the two nations.
