First general meeting of the eighth inter-Korean ministerial talks was held Sunday at Pyongyang's People's Culture Palace, according to South Korean national news agency Yonhap News.
The atmosphere of the meeting is " heavy and serious", Rhee Bong-jo, the South Korea's spokesman for the talks, was quoted by Yonhap on the 50-minute plenary.
No new agendas were brought forward other than those that have been mentioned at the seventh ministerial level talks on Aug. 12-14 in Seoul, which were mainly focused on inter-Korean railways and roads relinking and other economic issues, said Yonhap.
However, during the talks, the South Korean delegation raised the issue of nuclear weapons in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), expressing South Korea's stand, said Rhee.
The South Korean delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday, and it will stay there until Oct. 22.
