High-tech fair scheduled in SW China

About 100 big Chinese companies, 10 Russian military enterprises and many Japanese firms will attend the high-tech fair to be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 in southwest China's Chongqing City.

About 100 big Chinese companies, 10 Russian military enterprises and many Japanese firms will attend the high-tech fair to be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 in southwest China's Chongqing City.

Organizing officials said the fair will feature military technology and its use in civil fields, technology suitable for cooperation between the country's rich east and underdeveloped west, technology for modernizing outdated industries, and environment-friendly technology.

The fair, the fourth of its kind, will be organized by Chongqing municipal government in cooperation with the Ministry ofScience and Technology, the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Chongqing is the biggest industrial center in the country's southwest, and home to some of the country's major military enterprises encouraged by the central government to produce civilian products, such as compact cars and motorcycles.
