Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji Tuesday met with visiting Uruguayan President Jorge Luis Batlle Ibanez in Beijing.
Zhu said the ongoing visit would increase political trust and promote bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese government was committed to the further development of political and economic ties with Uruguay and hoped to open up new areas and explore new channels for developing bilateral ties, he said.
Both developing countries, China and Uruguay should strengthen consultation and coordination in the United Nations and in other international affairs for world peace and development, Zhu said.
Batlle said the cooperative documents signed Monday would play an important role in enhancing political, economic and cultural links.
He told Zhu that Uruguay advocated dialogue to resolve problems in international relations. Uruguay was willing to enhance cooperation with China on multilateral occasions, he added.
