Igor Khapizov, deputy commander of the 102nd brigade of interior troops, was killed and three other Russian servicemen were wounded in the three-hour fighting, Interfax quoted officers of the brigade as saying.
Akhbednabi Maddigadzhiyev, Security Council Secretary of the Dagestan Republic, where the troop is stationed, confirmed this report, said Interfax.
The Interior Ministry's press service said Chechen rebels had retreated deeper inside Chechnya after losing nine people.
