Israel Ready for 'Every Scenario' of Iraqi Attack: Sharon
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Monday addressed to the Parliament that Israel was prepared for "every scenario" regarding a possible Iraqi attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Monday addressed to the Parliament that Israel was prepared for "every scenario" regarding a possible Iraqi attack.
The prime minister, who will head Monday night for the United States to meet with US President George W. Bush, ridiculed the sense of panic, which he blamed it on the media, with regard to the threat Iraq posed to Israel.
He said "There is reason for concern. But Israel is ready and prepared for any scenario. There is no place for panic."
Israeli media predicted that during Sharon's visit, Bush is expected to ask him for "maximum restraint" if Israel is attacked by Iraq in the event of an American assault on the Baghdad regime.
However, Bush will refrain from pressing Sharon for a commitment not to react under any circumstances.
In response, the prime minister is likely to stick to his formula that "Israel knows how to defend itself" if attacked by Baghdad, according to the reports.
