Chinese triple jumper Huang Qiuyan won the gold medal in a new Asian Games record on Sunday.

Huang jumped a distance of 14.28 meters to pocket the gold, breaking the Asiad record of 14.28 held by China's Ren Ruiping since the 13th Asian Games fours years ago.

But Huang was not very satisfied with her performance as she failed to upset the Asian record of 14.72 meters held by herself since 2001.

"I planned to crack the Asian record but failed because I didn't do so well in approach run," Huang told reporters after the event.

Huang's compatriot Zhang Hao jumped 13.89 meters for the silver, while Kazakhstan's Tatyana Bocharova took the bronze with 13.26.
