Winners of Asia Business Leader Awards 2002 Named in HK

Four winners of Asia Business Leader Awards 2002 were named Thursday evening at a gala dinner inHong Kong, for their achievement, innovation and leadership in regional business.

Four winners of Asia Business Leader Awards 2002 were named Thursday evening at a gala dinner inHong Kong, for their achievement, innovation and leadership in regional business.

S. Ramadorai of Tata Consultancy Services of India won the title of the Asia Business Leader of the Year; Neil Montefiore of MobileOne (Asia) Pte Ltd. of Singapore was named the Innovator of the Year; Ramalinga Raju of Satyam Computer Service of India claimed the title of the Corporate Citizen of the Year; and Jong-yong Yun of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd of Korea won the CEO's of Choice Award.

Addressing the award presentation ceremony, Antony Leung, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(SAR), congratulated the winners of awards this year.

The theme of this event is "Growth Through Leadership" and what Hong Kong is doing is to nurture the business leadership, he said.

He said the Hong Kong SAR government will keep investing heavily in education and training; constantly improve Hong Kong's business environment; and relax the immigration policy to encourage talented entrepreneurs to settle here and create more jobs.

"That way, Hong Kong can continue to contribute its share of Asia's business leaders," he added.

The Asia Business Leader Awards 2002 was organized and presented by CNBC, the foremost global provider of business and financial information and TNT, the world's leading business logistics solutions company.

Founded in 2001, the annual Asia Business Leader Awards recognize the achievements and dynamic leadership of the region's business leaders.
