Rockets Offer 4-year 18 Million Contract to Yao Ming
The NBA Houston Rockets have offered a four-year guaranteed contract worth 18 million dollars to the 2002 top pick Yao Ming, said Yao's representative Eric Zhang on Wednesday.

The NBA Houston Rockets have offered a four-year guaranteed contract worth 18 million dollars to the 2002 top pick Yao Ming, said Yao's representative Eric Zhang on Wednesday.
"We have reached an agreement with the Rockets on Yao's contract," Zhang told Xinhua by telephone. "The contract will be worth just more than 18 million US dollars."
The Rockets also agreed to allow Yao to play for the Chinese national team when called, according to Zhang.
"Yao will be available to play for the national team when he iscalled," Zhang said.
The 2.26-meter Yao, who was picked by the Rockets in June's NBADraft, is likely to get green light from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) to start his NBA career after the Busan Asian Games, according to Li Furong, deputy chef-de-mission of the Chinese Asian Games delegation.
"Things concerning Yao's playing in the NBA will be made clear after the Asian Games," Li said here at a press conference on September 29.
Yao has helped China storm into the semifinals of the Asian Games being held at the port city of Busan.
