A 13-year-old boy was shot outside a middle school and was critically injured Monday morning in Prince George's country, Maryland, the United States.
Officials said the boy was wounded in the chest and abdomen and was suffering from extensive blood loss.
The boy was sent to a local small hospital by his mother, and state police was planning to fly the boy to another hospital specializing in traumatic injuries to children.
It was not known whether the shooting near Washington is related to the recent string of sniper killings in the region.
