The Chinese women's doubles pair of Zhang Yining and Li Nan advanced into the final of the event at the 14th Asian Games table tennis competition Monday afternoon.

They will meet South Korea's Lee Eun Sil and Seok Eun Mi in thefinal to be played on Tuesday.

Zhang and Li outclassed the South Korean duo Ryu Ji Hae and KimMoo Kyo 4-1 in the semifinals, actually a duel between the Chineseand South Koreans as each side had two pairs in the last four.

As China's top player, world No.1 Wang Nan still appeared totally out of her form, the South Korean pair Lee and Seok overwhelmed Wang and her partner Guo Yan without much difficulty by 4-2.

Wang, most crowned athletes in the previous Asian Games in Bangkok with 4 golds from team, singles, women's doubles and mixeddoubles, was simply not her usual self throughout the match, and her weak attacks, poor defense and numerous unforced errors had directly led to the Chinese pair's defeat.

Although Wang and Guo were just paired up recently and lacked practice and experience compared with their opponents, it was easyfor everyone on court to see that it was Wang's poor shape, not any other factors, that decided the outcome of the match.

"What can I do when she was in such a shape," said Chinese headcoach Cai Zhenhua after the semifinals.

Earlier, Wang had conceded two team scores in Friday evening's women's team final against DPR Korea, and as a result the Chinese lost the Asiad title which they had been holding for 12 years. TheChinese were also shut out of the final of the mixed doubles eventas Wang and her partner Wang Liqin, as well as another Chinese pair, both lost in the semifinals.
