The 2002 NBA top pick Yao Ming led China to a 104-59 rout of Japan and a berth in the semifinals of the men's basketball tournament at the Busan Asian Games Saturday.

The Chinese, the defending Asian Games champions, led 77-40 into the fourth quarter and were never challenged on the way to their fourth straight win at the tournament.

China, who beat Chinese Taipei 113-50 on Wednesday, now lead second round Group I with two victories against no defeat and secured a berth in the semifinals for both the Philippines and themselves.

The 2.26-meter (7-fee-5) Yao had 12 points, 6 rebounds as China raced to a 33-10 lead after the first quarter. He finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds in 21 minutes.

The Philippines also collected two wins in the round-robin quarter-finals but stood behind China due to points disadvantage. Chinese Taipei and Japan, who have both had two straight losses, will go to the fifth-eighth play-offs after concluding their second round play by clashing with each other on Monday.
