"As a veteran lifter, I have already expected today's performance," the 24-year-old Le, from China's southern province of Hunan, told reporters.

Wu Shude, head coach of the Chinese weightlifting team, said: "a quality management, scientific training and working together as a team deliver our performances."

Zhou Yan, a Busan Asiad favorite, showed her dominating prowess from her snatch in which she landed 95kg. In the clean and jerk, she easily lifted 125kg in the second attempt.

She looked poised to break a the world record of 133kg in the clean and jerk when she raised the 133.5kg bar to her chest, but she failed to hoist it above her head.

"I'm satisfied with my performance today," Zhou told reporters, adding "I like the sport."

Fahad later received a gold award from the Asian Weightlifting Federation for his support to the sport.
