China's Le Maosheng Wins Men's 62kg Weightlifting with World Record

Chinese hercules Le Maosheng lifted aworld record weight in the clean and jerk en route to winning the gold medal of the men's 62kg category at the 14th Asian Games Wednesday evening.

Chinese hercules Le Maosheng lifted aworld record weight in the clean and jerk en route to winning the gold medal of the men's 62kg category at the 14th Asian Games Wednesday evening.

Le Maosheng, who competed alone after his teammate Shi Zhiyong failed three lifts in the snatch, had 140kg from snatch and 182.5kg from jerk for a winning total of 322.5kgs.

His lift in the jerk also set a new world record, beating the previous mark by 1.5kgs.

The old world record was set by Oleshchuk Genady of Belarus at the world championships in Antalya, Turkey last November.

Im Yong-su of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was second at 300kg and Cho Hyo-won of South Korea third at 290kg.
