Chinese Women Donates Goods to Afghan Women
Six hundred sewing machines and 13,000 meters of textile materials donated by China's Women Federation to Afghan Women Affairs Ministry arrived Wednesday afternoon at Kabul International Airport.
Six hundred sewing machines and 13,000 meters of textile materials donated by China's Women Federation to Afghan Women Affairs Ministry arrived Wednesday afternoon at Kabul International Airport.
Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador in Kabul, told Xinhua, "These assistance is a token of regard from Chinese women to their Afghan sisters."
These assistance would be sent to the ministry and used for a newly opened factory, he said.
Sorya Rahim, Afghan deputy minister of women affairs, who was receiving these assistance at the airport, said, "These are what we need. More than 40,000 Afghan women were widowed from the war. Assistance from every corner of the world will help them become independent."
She expressed her thanks to the Chinese government and Chinese women.
"The Afghan transitional government encourages women to go out of house and we now enjoy great freedom," she said.
These machines and materials will be handed over to the Women Affairs Ministry Thursday morning.
