China and Kazakhstan have entered the men's epee team final at the Busan Asiad while host South Koreas, the bronze medalists at both 2000 Sydney Olympics and the Lisbon World Fencing Championships in August, were edged out by Kazakhstan 44-43 in the semifinal Wednesday afternoon.

"The South Koreans were too nervous in the semifinal to play to their best form," Cai Jiadong, the Chinese team manager said.

South Korea then took the bronze by routing Kuwait 45-19 in the afternoon.

The Chinese team, which led by Zhao Gang and Wang Lei, the individual gold and siliver medalists in Busan, was not challenged by strong opponents in the matches before the final.

"Even Kazakhstan is less powerful than South Korea, we should not look down upon them in the final duel," Cai said.

Twelve teams have been registered to compete in the men's epee team competition at the Busan Asiad.

Every team must field three fencers for the nine 5-point sets, with each lasting for four minutes in maximum, and every fencer playing all his three opponents.

The team collecting 45 points will be the winner.
