Yasser Abed Rabbo, minister of information in the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), on Tuesdayslammed US stance on Jerusalem position, saying the United States works together with Israel to bury signed agreements with the PNA and violate international resolutions and conventions.
An Israeli daily website reported that US President George W. Bush has signed on a US Congress bill, which considers Jerusalem asthe capital of the state of Israel, though Bush said it is not obligatory.
Rabbo told reporters in Ramallah that Bush's signing is a very dangerous step, which means that the United States recognizes the annexation of all Jerusalem to Israel in the expense of its Palestinian residents, the international resolutions and the US commitments concerned.
The US administration contributes with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the attempts to burry the signed agreements with the Palestinian side, he added.
The Palestinian official said that the United States is putting itself into a position that inflames the feelings of hatred for both Moslems and Christians all over the world.
Earlier in the day, The PNA held its first weekly meeting chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat at his office in the West Bank town of Ramallah after the end of a 10-day-siege imposed on Arafat's headquarters in the town.
The meeting urged the Jerusalem Committee of the organization ofIslamic conference to hold an urgent meeting to discuss Bush's signing on a bill identifying Jerusalem as the capital of the stateof Israel.
A PNA statement issued after the meeting said that the Palestinian leadership applies to the Jerusalem Committee to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the latest developments related to theposition of Jerusalem.
Palestinian officials who attended the meeting said that Arafat and other PNA officials had studied in depth the dimensions of the US decision and described it as very dangerous.
The signing on the bill by President Bush is very dangerous, said the PNA officials, adding the PNA would also refer to the ArabLeague and the United Nations Security Council to convene and discuss the dangerous step.
The Palestinians have been struggling hard to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
