Chinese Gymnasts Grab Men's Team Title at Asiad

China won the men's team gymnastics gold with 228.825 points in the Asian Games Tuesday. South Korea got the silver with 226.700 and Japan picked the bronze with 225.600.

Chinese male gymnasts snatched the men's team gold medal as expected Tuesday at the 14th Asian Games,which is held from September 29 to October 14, beating host South Korea and Japan into the second and third places respectively.

China accumulated a total of 228.825 points for the gold medal while South Korea and Japan recorded 226.700 and 225.600 respectively.

The DPR Korea came fourth at 221.750 points.

China easily won the event though it was hard for the first four rounds as it started with its weakest rings, which accumulated only 37.250 with Huang Xu scoring the highest at 9.500.Feng Jing was the first to perform on the apparatus, registering amodest 9.250.

On the second rotation, the Chinese gymnasts amassed a total of37.775 from vault, ledi by Yang Wei's 9.750.

On the third round, China accumulated 59.095 on the parallel bars, one of China's strongest apparatus. Li Xiaopeng achieved a day high of 9.850 on the bars, with a beautiful and fluent execution.

His performance on the high bar aroused long-time cheers from the audience.

After Li Xiaopeng finished with a solid standing from the high bar, China's top gymnastics official Zhang Jian said to himself: "Olympic champion, no kidding."

After the competition, Zhang said to reporters that he was verysatisfied and happy to see the Chinese boys performed so well.
