Chinese Liu Yu Wins Men's 200m Freestyle at Asiad

Chinese Liu Yu edged his Japanese rival Yoshihiro Okumura by only 0.07 seconds, grabbing the first gold for Chinese men's swimmers at the Busan Asian Games Tuesday.

Chinese Liu Yu edged his Japanese rival Yoshihiro Okumura by only 0.07 seconds, grabbing the first gold for Chinese men's swimmers at the Busan Asian Games Tuesday.

Liu led the race from the beginning to the end, but only with asmall edge over Okumura who swam in Lane 4. At the lap, the two powers both made a final dash toward the pad. And fortunately Liu clocked one minute 49.29 seconds, breaking the old games mark of 1:50.48 newly set by Okumura in the morning.

The gold was beyond the expectation of the Chinese swimming team for Liu who was fourth in the morning heats.

Yosuke Ichikawa of Japan took the bronze in 1:50.66.
