China welcomes more foreign talented people to come to work in China and the Chinese government will exert every effort to create better conditions forthem, said Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji on Monday.
Zhu made the remarks when meeting 51 foreign experts, winners of the annual "Friendship Award" presented by the Chinese government.
Extending congratulations and thanks to the award winners, Zhu said each year he briefed the "Friendship Award" winners on China's economic development, and this time he only said: "China has become better and better."
He said China's economy increased by 7.3 percent last year and the increase rate was expected to hit 7.8 percent this year, adding that economic efficiency this year was better than last year.
China's policy of attracting talented people from overseas would not change, he said, noting that each year about 400,000 overseas experts worked in China.
The "Friendship Award", established by the Chinese government in 1991, is conferred annually to those foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social progress.
The Chinese government presented the award to 51 foreign experts from 19 countries this year. So far, 666 foreign experts have been awarded the honor.
