Latest statistics show that the number of China Unicom's CDMA users exceed 1 million in September after previous two months's rise of July's 460000 and August's 720000.
It has become an indisputable fact that CDMA users are on a sustainable increase in Chinese market.
Just as new things are hard to avoid suspicion at an initial stage, CDMA were not favored on market in the first half of the year. People were lack of enough knowledge and recognition about CDMA.
The whole country's CDMA users merely reached 1 million in the first half of the year, less than the total number in July and August. By contrast, domestic and foreign Telecom sources lament on that "China is not suitable to develop CDMA".
On May 17, the World Telecom Day, China Unicom held a nationwide CDMA promotion activity. On the day, many selling booths of the telecom provider are chocked with crowds of consumers, many people showed great interest in CDMA mobile phones.
Taking advantage of its previously made ads and promotions China Unicom later carried out its new strategy of "expanding market to meet needs of high salaried consumers".
Since then, China Unicom went out of the stalemate situation, its CDMA users saw a conspicuous rise later on and by mid June, CDMA users reached 1 million.
TheMay 17promotion changed people's stereotype of CDMA not being favored in market, plus CDMA's low radiation, high quality tone, long charge time and info secret features, a large number of potential users will turn into virtual users.
Take Guangdong Province for example, in June, CDMA got another 63000 new users, with monthly increase getting up to nearly 50 percent, and the following three months rise also topped 30 percent. It is not a rare thing in other provinces. Since the number of CDMA users surmount 1 million in mid June, the number of the countrys CDMA users surpassed 1.5 million in July, by August the number reached 2.4 million and by September, it broke 3 million. The soaring figure confers such an information that CDMA is on a sound track.
Among CDMA users, many of them are young and well-educated white-collar employees. A survey conducted in Shenzhen shows that 53 percent of CDMA users are clerks, accountants, managers in companies, 48 percent hold higher education degree, 39 percent are not beyond 30 years old.
Market analysis indicates that in cities and towns, the number of young, well-educated and white collars is soaring up, they become a new force that push CDMA to a new height.
In order to provide better services, China Unicom is planning to upgrade its current network to multi-function CDMA1X. By then, users will experience what is real multimedia mobile network..
So far, China Unicom's CDMA users have exceeded 3 million.
According to world telecom rule, if users hit 3 million, a snowball effect will occur. Just like what a manager of China Unicom said that as CDMA is rooting deeply into consumer mind, CDMA scale will become larger and larger.
