Musharraf Urges India to Reciprocate Pakistan's Peace Offer

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf Saturday emphasized the need for reciprocity by India to lower tension and enter into dialogue to resolve the issue of Kashmir.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf Saturday emphasized the need for reciprocity by India to lower tension and enter into dialogue to resolve the issue of Kashmir.

He made the remarks while talking to a visiting 15-member delegation of European Union and Scandinavian countries, accordingto the Associated Press of Pakistan.

On Indo-Pak relations, the president said although tension waslower than before, it might be because of change in intent of India and not in capability, which remained as long as Indian forces were amassed on the borders.

He added that besides de-escalation, there was a need to address the core issue of Kashmir, which bedeviled relations between the two countries.

Musharraf recounted a number of steps taken by Pakistan to reduce tension and pointed out that reciprocity from the Indian side was lacking. He stressed upon the need for a dialogue betweenPakistan, India and Kashmiri representatives.

He also reiterated that Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used for acts of terrorism both within and outside the country.
