China Interested in Expanding Ties with Iran: Ambassador

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Sun Bigan Thursday said China is interested in promoting relations with Iran, especially in trade and economic fields.

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Sun Bigan Thursday said China is interested in promoting relations with Iran, especially in trade and economic fields.

Bidding farewell to Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, Sun highlighted the status of Iran in China's foreign policy, while expressing hope that the two countries would expand ties in all areas.

Khatami said he appreciated the good Tehran-Beijing relations, noting that cultural and historical affinities between the two countries can serve as a driving force to promote mutual ties.

He said China, with a significant status in Asia and the world, has always played a determining role in international developments.
