Australia, China Win World Track Cycling Titles

Jobie Dajke of Australia and Li Na of China won the men's and women's keirin titles on the opening day of the 2002 track cycling world championships in Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Jobie Dajke of Australia and Li Na of China won the men's and women's keirin titles on the opening day of the 2002 track cycling world championships in Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Dajke won the six-rider men's event ahead of Jose Antonio Villanueva Trinidad of Spain and Rene Wolff of Germany, covering the final 200 metres in 10.8 seconds.

Chinese rider Li Na won the women's title, powering past Clara Sanchez of France on the final curve to win by a length.

Keirin is a new event introduced this year. The six riders arepaced around the track by a motorbike for the opening laps before contesting a sprint when the motorbike pulls off the track.
