Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji on Wednesday called for expanding exchanges and cooperation between China and Denmark in particularly such areas as culture, tourism and social insurance.
There were still great potentials to tap in bilateral cooperation in areas ranging from trade, finance, technology to culture and education, Zhu said during talks with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. He also invited Danish investment in China's western areas.
Despite differences in some issues due to different political, economic, historical and social background, Zhu said, China-Denmark cooperation in international affairs has been sound and should continue on the basis of mutual respect and seeking common ground while reserving differences with an eye on the future.
Rasmussen praised the progress so far made in bilateral relations, thanks to frequent high-level visits, increased political dialogues and expanded cooperation in economy, trade, investment and culture.
He said he hoped the two sides would increase their cooperation in environmental protection, maritime transportation and tourism.
Danish businesses are showing increasing interest in investing in China, said Rasmussen, adding that about 10 Danish enterprises go to invest in China each year.
Meanwhile, Denmark welcomed Chinese investment, particularly in biotechnology and telecommunications, he said.
Zhu is on an official visit to Denmark, the second leg of his current three-nation European tour which will also take him to France. He flew into Denmark on Sunday from Austria and attended the fourth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the fifth China-European Union Summit held in Copenhagen on Monday and Tuesday.
