Governor of DPRK Sinuiju SAR Appointed

The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly issued a decree on appointing the governor of the Sinuiju Special Administrative Region(SAR), Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported Tuesday.

The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly issued a decree on appointing the governor of the Sinuiju Special Administrative Region(SAR), Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported Tuesday.

According to the decree, Bin Yang, President of the Holland Euro-Asia Group, was appointed as its governor.

Bin Yang, 39, former Chinese navy officer, was educated in the Netherlands and holds Dutch citizenship. He was named by Forbes magazine as the second richest businessman in China last year, with estimated personal wealth of $900 million.

China Hails DPRK's Establishment of Siniuju SAR
China welcomes and supports the establishment of the Siniuju Special Administrative Region (SAR) by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday.

Zhang made this remark at a regular press conference when askedto comment on the DPRK's recent announcement of the establishment of the Siniuju SAR.

Zhang said China welcomes and supports this new measure taken by the DPRK in the development of its economy.

China, traditionally a friendly neighbor of the DPRK, is willing to strengthen cooperation of mutual benefit, so as to promote the common development of both countries and the region atlarge, the spokeswoman said.
