High Alert Sounded in New Delhi Following Temple Attack
High alert was sounded in the capital particularly at religious places and VIP areas Tuesday evening in the wake of terrorists attack on the Swaminarain templein Gujarat.
High alert was sounded in the capital particularly at religious places and VIP areas Tuesday evening in the wake of terrorists attack on the Swaminarain templein Gujarat.
"Entire Delhi Police forces have been put on a high state of alert in the wake of Gujarat incident," Special Commissioner (Security) S K Kain told local media.
He said that police control vehicles, which have commandos, across the capital have been asked to keep strict vigil and additional deployment have been undertaken.
Security checking pickets have been set up and vigil ordered tobe kept up on capital's borders, he said.
Religious places, VIP areas and public places like markets are being kept in special vigilance, he said, adding security men havebeen alerted to meet any exigencies.
Standby arrangements "by keeping commandos ready" have been initiated, Kain said.
Delhi is under constant threat in recent times with the terrorist attack on Parliament House last year.
At least 23 people were killed when gunmen went on a shooting spree in Swaminarayan temple complex in Gandhinagar in India's Gujarat state Tuesday evening.
