Chinese Premier Meets Thai Prime Minister in Copenhagen

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met here Sunday with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand on the sideline of the Fourth Asia-Europe summit which would open Monday morning.

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met here Sunday with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand on the sideline of the Fourth Asia-Europe summit which would open Monday morning.

Zhu said China and Thailand are friendly neighbors and leaders of the two countries have kept close contacts which have pushed forward bilateral relations.

He said the two countries have been expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields with remarkable results and cooperating well in promoting China's relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He hoped that the mechanism for Asian cooperation dialogue proposed by Thailand will make progress.

Thaksin said Thailand treasures its relations with China and appreciates China's support for the mechanism.

Thailand will make efforts to push forward the economic and trade cooperation between the ASEAN and China, noted Thaksin.

He reiterated that Thailand will continue to abide by a "one-China" policy, which was appreciated by Zhu.
