China Regrets over Lee Kuan Yew's Visit to Taiwan

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing Tuesday that China regrets andis displeased at Singaporean Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew's visit to Taiwan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing Tuesday that China regrets andis displeased at Singaporean Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew's visit to Taiwan.

In response to a question at a regular press conference, Kong said Singapore is clear about China's position on the Taiwan issueand has time and again reiterated its stand to abide by the one-China policy.

China hopes that Singapore will abide by its one-China commitment not only in words but also in action, and will definitely not do anything detrimental to the relationship betweenChina and Singapore, the spokesman said.
