Nepali Army Chief Reaffirms Support for One-China Policy
Chief of Army Staff of the Royal Nepal Army General Pyar Jung Thapa reaffirmed in Kathmandu Monday that the Nepali army fully supports the one-China policy and will not allow any anti-China activities to be conducted in Nepal.

"The bilateral relations between Nepal and China based on mutual trust remain the cornerstone of our relationship. As a result, Nepal fully supports China's one-China policy and will also ensure that any activities detrimental to other country's security interests will not be allowed within its territory," Thapa told a visiting Chinese military delegation.
Expressing gratitude for the support the People's Liberation Army has extended to the Royal Nepal Army in its modernization program, Thapa voiced his wishes that the friendly relations between the two armies will be further enhanced in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Zou Gengren, head of the Military Delegation of the Lanzhou Military Region of China,expressed appreciation and gratitude for the support the Nepali side has given to the one-China policy and for its pledges not to allow any anti-China activities to be conducted in Nepal.
"The goodwill visit of my delegation is aimed at further strengthening the good relations between the armies of the two countries, especially promoting the relations between the Royal Nepal Army and China's Lanzhou Military Region," Zou said, adding that "we will cooperate more closely with the Nepali army in maintaining peace and stability of the bordering areas."
Meanwhile, he stressed China's defense policy by saying that China will not pose a threat to any other country.
The seven-member Chinese military delegation arrived here Sunday on a six-day goodwill visit to Nepal at the invitation of the Royal Nepal Army.
