Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Tuesday that Japan will not agree to resume normalization talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) without the progress in the issue of missing Japanese nationals, Kyodo News reported.
Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Tuesday that Japan will not agree to resume normalization talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) without the progress in the issue of missing Japanese nationals, Kyodo News reported.
"I think they know (the normalization talks) will not move forward unless they will clearly show (progress)," Koizumi was quoted as saying shortly before departing to Pyongyang for the unprecedented visit to DPRK.
Koizumi said that he will discuss issues in a comprehensive andgeneral way with DPRK leader Kim Jong Il.
Japan alleged that at least 11 Japanese nationals were "abducted" by DPRK agents in the 1970s and 1980s. The DPRK denied any involvement of the missing Japanese issue.
