A US base in Gardez of Afghanistan's Paktia province were hit with three rockets by unidentified assailants on Thursday, according to the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

The report said that the rockets caused no causalities when they fell and exploded in an area five kilometers from the Gardez base of the US forces.

It was also reported that on Wednesday, two rockets exploded at dawn in an open field near an airport in Khost; hours later attackers fired three rockets at Gardez from a mountain range.

Rockets have been launched frequently towards both Khost and Gardez over the last several months.

US special forces have based in both towns and conducted regular operations with Afghan soldiers in search of suspected terrorists and senior Taliban leaders.
