21 Killed in Floods in Southern France
Twenty-one people were killed and 10 others reported missing in the floods in southern France, according to the latest toll released Tuesday by police.

Up to 600 millimeters of water, or the average rainfall of six months, fell within 24 hours in southern departments of Gard, Herault and Vaucluse over the weekend, France Meteo reported.
Tens of thousands of households were living a difficult time because the floods have paralyzed roads and cut phone and power lines and drinking water supplies in large areas of in the southeast, reported France televisions.
The railway transport gradually went back to normal and the state-owned railway company SNCF announced that traffic will be resumed between Nimes and Montpellier and between Avignon and Nimes starting from Wednesday.
However, the railway connecting other areas of the important wine-producing and popular tourist region will remain on repair because of heavy damage.
Earlier on Tuesday, French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin announced an emergency aid of 10 million euros (10 million US dollars) to the victims of floods when he arrived in the Gard region to inspect the damage with his Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy.
