US President Starts Sept. 11 Remembrance with Concert

US President George W. Bush started a week of remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Monday evening.

US President George W. Bush started a week of remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Monday evening.

Bush, first lady Laura Bush and a dozen celebrity performers taped NBC's "Concert for America 2002," which will be broadcast on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Wednesday.

In the coming week, Bush will attend a series of ceremonies and make speeches concerning the terrorist attacks and on reinforcing the war against terror.

On Tuesday, Bush will attend a function at the Afghan embassy in the United States to celebrate the country's post-Sept.11 liberation from the Taliban regime.

On Wednesday, Bush will visit the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania field where Flight 93 crashed during last year's terrorist attacks.He will also travel to Ground Zero in New York, where the World Trade Center once stood.

Bush will deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly Thursday to muster support from the international community for a possible military action against Iraq.
