Iraq Ready for Comprehensive Settlement With UN: Minister
Visiting Iraqi Information Minister Mohammad Said Al-Sahhaf said on Saturday his country is ready for a comprehensive settlement with the UN Security Council that includes lifting the UN sanctions and an unconditional resumption of weapons inspection.

Speaking at a press conference with Jordanian Culture Minister Haider Mahmoud during the opening ceremony of the Iraqi Cultural Week in Amman, the Iraqi minister said "If there were doubts that Iraq still possesses weapons of mass destruction, there are ways todeny these doubts."
He accused the United States of being only concerned with one thing which is the changing of the regime in Iraq.
Sahhaf said that the Security Council failed to implement its commitments towards Iraq regarding lifting the sanctions and respecting Iraq's sovereignty and unity of its lands and it did notimplement resolutions it took on other countries like Israel.
The Iraqi minister described relations with Jordan as strong and continuously expanding. He expressed hope that these ties would lead to the establishment of joint projects as part the economic cooperation between the two countries.
Jordan has on many occasions said it stands opposed to a possible US-led military strike against Iraq for allegedly seeking weapons of mass destruction.
It also called for lifting the 12-year-old UN sanctions imposed on Iraq following its 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
