At 2:15 PM local time (0715 GMT), the special plane carrying Liand his entourage landed in the Royal Airforce Airport, which was ceremoniously-decorated with national flags of both China and Thailand flying high.

In a glorious welcome ceremony with red-carpet and flower garlands, Li and his wife were greeted by Thai National Assembly President Uthai, Thai National Assembly Vice President and Senate Speaker Manoonkrit Roopkachorn, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Suchat Thanchalean and other high-level parliamentary and government officials.

Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Yan Ting-ai, Chinese embassy staffs, Chinese businessmen and students as well as local Thai Chinese leaders also greeted China's top legislator at the airport.

Li and his wife were then shown the way by Uthai to the VIP lounge of the airport while young Thai girls in traditional dresses sprinkling petals on both sides to honor the important Chinese guests.

During his visit, Li will meet a wide range of Thai leaders on issues of common interests, including King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen of Thailand Sirikit Kitiyakorn, National Assembly President Uthai, National Assembly Vice President and Senate Speaker Manoonkrit Roopkachorn, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinwatra, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Chavalit Yoongchaiyudh, and Deputy Prime Minister Korn Dabbarabsi.

Bangkok is the first leg of Li's Thailand tour, which will also carry him to the southern Thai city of Phuket, 900 km south of here.
